Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has cast doubt over Darwin Nunez's future at Anfield, suggesting the club might offload him next year.
The Uruguayan forward, who arrived for a potential club-record fee of £85m from Benfica in 2022, has had a tumultuous time with the Reds, showing glimpses of brilliance but largely struggling to find his feet.
With just three goals this season and facing criticism after a lacklustre performance in Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Newcastle United, Nunez hasn't quite lived up to expectations.
Initially playing second fiddle to Diogo Jota, Nunez got his chance in the starting XI following Jota's injury in early October, but manager Slot hasn't hesitated to bench him for Luis Diaz on occasion.
Watching Nunez's display against Newcastle live on The Overlap, Carragher expressed his views bluntly: "I'm not sure he's here next year," he said.

"I think he'll probably move on. He's more like a cult hero because he's a bit mad and he likes to run around, but he's better than [Divock] Origi."
However, Carragher's enthusiasm was unbridled when celebrating Mohamed Salah's second goal that night, as he repeatedly exclaimed "Give him what he wants! ".
Despite previously criticising the Egyptian forward as 'selfish', following an unusual interview where Salah openly discussed his future, the Liverpool legend still hopes that Salah, whose contract at Anfield expires next summer, will extend his stay with the club, reports the Liverpool Echo.
