Jadon Sancho has now equalled at Chelsea what he did in the whole of the 2023/24 season

Jadon Sancho has just enjoyed a memorable night away at Southampton by scoring his first ever Chelsea goal.

Chelsea thrashed Southampton by a 5-1 scoreline at St Mary’s yesterday, which earned them a third straight win in the Premier League. Therefore, the Blues are now up to second in the division table.

Jadon Sancho, 24, came of the bench and completed the Blues scoring with an emphatic finish.

The English winger made his mark with a powerful right-footed strike that flew past the Southampton goalkeeper. Hopefully, it can be the first of many for him this season.

He’s certainly made a positive impact since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer from Manchester United on loan with an obligation to buy.

Jadon Sancho has equalled last season’s tally

Sancho’s move to Chelsea is turning out to be fantastic. In fact, he’s already matched this season what he did in the whole of the 2023/24 campaign.

During last season, the skilful attacker only managed six goal involvements in 24 games across all competitions, which combines his time with Man United and a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

So far this season, he’s already managed six goal involvements in nine Chelsea matches.

Despite the fact that Graeme Souness isn’t convinced by Chelsea’s Sancho, it’s pretty obvious that he’s making an impact right now in West London.

It’s a very decent return of one goal and five assists in nine Chelsea matches across all competitions, especially given he’s only started six times.

The severe competition for places means it won’t get any easier for any of the Blues wingers, Sancho included, to nail down a permanent starting role. It’s keeping each of them hungry and on their toes, though.

Jadon Sancho combining with several Chelsea teammate

There’s many pundits that have spotted Sancho develop several different blossoming partnerships with Chelsea teammates.

Speaking back in September, Tony Cascarino noticed Chelsea’s Sancho and Cole Palmer combine effetively in a league success over Brighton.

Similarly, Jason Cundy praised Chelsea duo Sancho and Enzo Fernandez for linking up well last weekend in the league victory over Aston Villa.

Sancho may have lost his way in recent times and not yet fulfilled his potential, but there’s no doubt he’s an intelligent footballer that can gel very effectively on the pitch with the Blues squad.
