Liverpool reportedly has its eye on Los Angeles Galaxy winger Gabriel Pec as a potential future transfer target, indicating a long-term planning from Michael Edwards.
The Reds are currently in the process of a Premier League title race and a fight to compete for the Champions League in Arne Slot's first season as Jurgen Klopp's replacement, but all the talk has been about the squad for next season.
The trio of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will all be out of contract next summer, and theoretically could leave the club for free - leaving Edwards with a huge task of rebuilding the spine of the team.
And now, it appears Liverpool is looking to long-term plan, with CaughtOffside reporting that the Reds are monitoring LA Galaxy's Pec.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakout year in MLS, scoring 19 goals and providing 15 assists in 37 games. He largely plays on the right hand side and, like Salah, can cut in on his left foot and create problems for defenses.
There's no indication that Pec would be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, but it's noteable that at just 23, he's got age on his side if Liverpool decided to make a move.

Liverpool may have to act fast, however, with the report stating Arsenal, Newcastle United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Napoli all monitoring his development.
Galaxy clearly has a strong position when it comes to the Brazilian, having tied him down to a long-term contract which runs until December 31, 2028.
It's unclear whether Liverpool will make a move any time soon, considering the focus is clearly on securing the current three stars to new contracts.
