Wolves manager Gary O’Neil is now hanging to his job by a thread.
Wolves lost 4-0 to Everton on Wednesday night at Goodison Park, and it was arguably the team’s worst performance of the season so far.
Wanderers were all at sea once again, and defended so poorly from set-pieces.
Craig Dawson and Jose Sa had absolute nightmares, and there were very few positives at all from the game.
Speculation has been rife today about Gary O’Neil’s future. But it’s been claimed O’Neil will take Wolves against West Ham, and the manager did his press conference a day earlier than usual.
Fans are baffled that O’Neil is set to be given the West Ham game, given how abysmal the last two performances have been.
At this point, many are just waiting for that announcement about O’Neil, and today a suggestion about compensation has been made.
Gary O’Neil compensation package is the same as his old Wolves contract

Some people have speculated that there is one reason in particular why Fosun have not yet sacked O’Neil.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Many believe that the Wolves owners are reluctant to remove O’Neil as they would have to pay him out and of course, he only signed a new contract ahead of the new season.
So in theory, it would be quite costly to sack O’Neil.
But there’s a line from the Daily Mail today to suggest that it would actually be no more costly for the owners to sack O’Neil than if he hadn’t signed that new deal.
Apparently, the compensation O’Neil would be due would be ‘roughly the same’ as the previous three-year contract he signed after replacing Julen Lopetegui.
Further to this, John Percy reports in the Telegraph that ‘there are no financial concerns over making a managerial change and then appointing a successor’.
It is unclear how much money exactly it would cost Fosun to sack O’Neil.
Fosun must take O’Neil sack decision
So that new contract O’Neil signed in the summer doesn’t mean a bigger compensation package, which is interesting.
With that in mind, it’s difficult to understand what Fosun have not made the decision to relieve O’Neil of his duties yet, when there has been so much evidence that the club is in trouble with him at the helm.
We know Fosun and Matt Hobbs think very highly of O’Neil and really liked what he did last season.
But the credit in the bank has now certainly run out, and things just keep getting worse.
The Wolves owners simply must now admit to themselves that O’Neil isn’t the man to get Wolves out of this mess, and get someone else in before it’s too late. Some fear it may already be so.
