FC Barcelona have been carefully planning the steps that they must take to secure their financial situation in the near future. Having already experienced a grave mismanagement of their resources, the club wishes to avoid a repeat of that. However, Barcelona does need certain things to go their way for that to be the case.
One such thing could be that the right kind of offers arrive for the players that Barcelona no longer wishes to keep at the club. Given that some players earn a tremendous amount of money but are not necessarily the most important of figures from a sporting sense means that their departures would be appreciated.
As per emerging reports in recent weeks, one player who fits this category is Frenkie de Jong. While his talent and quality remain undoubted, the Dutchman has not exactly been the most impactful player under Hansi Flick and negotiations with him have proven to be rather frustrating as well.
Now, according to Fichajes, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as a potential new summer destination for the Dutch midfielder. As per the report, they could even end up challenging Manchester United to acquire the player’s signature in the near future.
For Spurs, De Jong would be the kind of player who can boost their midfield strength significantly. His composure, accuracy with his passes, vision, and versatility as a player is something that reportedly attracts Ange Postecoglou, and that could lead to a move being made by the London-based side.
Similarly, as has happened over the last couple of years, Manchester United are also reportedly still interested in the player. For both Premier League sides, he is a signing that could improve their respective teams. Moreover, for Barcelona, the more suitors that chime in the better it is.
