The negotiations for the renewal of Tijjani Reijnders with AC Milan are well underway, but it might not be enough to see him stay beyond this season.
As Tuttosport report, the signs are good regarding Reijnders extending his contract. The Dutch midfielder has become a real leader of Paulo Fonseca’s team and recently has scored goals at the rate of a top striker.
On Monday evening he spoke live on Ziggo Sport, declaring: “I haven’t signed yet, it still has to happen, but it seems like a good thing. It’s a nice reward that Milan wants to give me, extending the contract after a year doesn’t happen often. It’s a great club to play for».”
It is music to Milan’s ears, and the directors know that he is worth at least triple the €20m paid one year ago, when they signed him from AZ Alkmaar beating the competition of several European clubs, including Barcelona.
Now the aim is to armour him with a new deal and a pay rise, especially given that Manchester City are interested. What could be key is if the Rossoneri manage to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League.
Participation in the top European competition is often a basic condition for all the star names and not qualifying – in addition to the economic damage that it would cause given the loss in revenues – could force reflections from all involved.
