PSG draw Atlético de Madrid, Botafogo and Seattle Sounders in Club World Cup group stage

PSG will face Atlético de Madrid, Botafogo and Seattle Sounders in the group stage of the revamped Club World Club, which is set to be held in the USA from June 15 to July 13, 2025. The draw took place this Thursday in Miami. The Ligue 1 champions were automatically qualified for the tournament thanks to their UEFA ranking in the past four years. PSG were in Pot 1. The Club World Cup’s format is the same as that used in the FIFA World Cups from 1998 to 2022: 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four, with the top two clubs qualifying for the knockout stage.

Drawn in Group B, PSG will start their Club World Cup campaign against Atlético de Madrid. Les Parisiens and Los Colchoneros already faced each other during this season’s Champions League. Diego Simeone’s team clinched a last-minute winner at the Parc des Princes courtesy of Angel Correa. PSG will also lock horns with Copa Libertadores winners Botafogo, which will add some spice considering Botafogo owner John Textor holds a grudge against the Ligue 1 champions. PSG will then complete their Club World Cup group stage against MLS franchise Seattle Sounders.
