Real Madrid star 'attracting Premier League interest' following criticism over recent form

Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The France international has made over 100 competitive appearances since Real Madrid paid an initial €80m (£66m) to sign him from Monaco in the summer of 2022.

Tchouameni has helped Los Blancos win seven trophies during his time in the Spanish capital, including a La Liga title and a Champions League crown.

However, some of Tchouameni's performances have come under criticism this season, including his display in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club.

The Frenchman returned from injury to play 71 minutes at San Mames, but he experienced a quiet display in the midfield as Alex Berenguer and Gorka Goruzeta condemned Real Madrid to their second league defeat of the season.

Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Tchouameni

There has been some speculation that Tchouameni's underwhelming performances could persuade Real Madrid to listen to offers for the midfielder.

According to Mundo Deportivo, there are Premier League clubs 'keeping a close eye' on the Tchouameni's situation ahead of next summer's transfer window.

The report also claims that Ral Madrid are looking to bring in a new central midfielder for the 2025-26 campaign, placing doubt over Tchouameni's place in the squad.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is believed to view the Frenchman as a centre-back rather than a midfielder, but the player prefers to operate in the middle of the park.

While there may be uncertainty surrounding Tchouameni's future, Los Blancos would likely demand a significant transfer fee with his contract set to run until the summer of 2028.

Which clubs could move for Tchouameni?

The report fails to name Tchouameni's potential suitors, but he has previously been linked with some of the Premier League's top clubs.

Liverpool have been mentioned as a potential suitor, with the Reds keen to recruit a new midfielder after they failed to sign Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi in the summer.

Manchester United and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Tchouameni alongside Liverpool, but it remains to be seen whether any of the trio make an effort to sign him in 2025.

The Real Madrid star will currently be focused on Saturday's La Liga clash against Girona, with the midfielder hoping to retain his place in the side for the trip to Montilivi.
