Premier League set to introduce shock new law that would see MORE corners and Arsenal fans absolutely love it

PREMIER LEAGUE fans could be joining in with a referee countdown aimed at combating time-wasting within three seasons.

Referees taking part in the trials both in Prem League Two and Malta have been awarding corners to the attacking side if the ball is not released by goalkeepers within an eight second count.

Match refs hold a hand in the air after three seconds before counting down a further five seconds during which time the ball must be released.

And fans in the Med have revelled in joining in with the count to heap more pressure on keepers.

The new rule was approved last year after Ifab members agreed the six-second rule, with an indirect free-kick as punishment, was being routinely ignored by players and referees.

And the development comes as good news to Arsenal fans following their recent run of goals from corners.
