Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg has reached an agreement to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium until 2027. While the 54-year-old Dutchman’s new deal is yet to be officially signed, Fabrizio Romano reports that the process is reportedly in its final stages.

This move aligns with the club’s efforts to secure long-term stability within the coaching staff, following Mikel Arteta’s own contract extension in September. According to The Athletic, Arsenal are also finalising new deals for several key members of Arteta’s backroom team, including set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, tactical assistant Carlos Cuesta, assistant Miguel Molina, and goalkeeper coach Inaki Cana Pavon. These extensions are expected to run through 2027, coupled with significant pay increases.

Stuivenberg’s football career took an unexpected turn when a freak injury at age 19 forced him to retire early. Pivoting to coaching, he spent 13 years at Feyenoord’s academy, where he played a pivotal role in nurturing talent, including future Arsenal star Robin van Persie. His extensive coaching career spans roles in the Netherlands, Belgium, Jordan, and England, including a stint as Manchester United’s assistant manager under Ryan Giggs and Louis van Gaal.

In December 2019, Stuivenberg joined Arsenal as part of Arteta’s coaching staff. His tenure has seen notable achievements, including an FA Cup triumph, and he remains a crucial figure in Arsenal’s tactical setup.

Set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, who joined Arsenal in 2021 from Manchester City, is also set to extend his contract. The 43-year-old is credited with transforming Arsenal into one of Europe’s most effective teams in dead-ball situations. Manager Mikel Arteta recently praised Jover as a “very special person” and “a vital part of the team.”

While Stuivenberg and Jover’s renewals are significant, the spotlight also falls on other key figures in Arteta’s setup. Tactical assistant Miguel Molina, keeper coach Inaki Cana Pavon, and assistant Carlos Cuesta are all expected to follow suit. Cuesta, in particular, is seen as a rising star in coaching circles, with previous links to managerial positions, including Norwich City.

Arsenal, currently seven points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, will look to continue their fine form on Sunday when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage.
