Chelsea ready to sell

Chelsea are reportedly willing to lose Axel Disasi in the January transfer window despite the defender starting and scoring against Southampton. It looks as though Disasi is the best competitor for preferred starting centre-backs Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana.

But there are still claims that he could be sold, with Team Talk saying the 26-year-old is seen as ‘limited’ and that Chelsea believe they can get good value for him this winter. Disasi was signed for £38.5 million in 2023, and like many at Chelsea, he is on a long-term contract, penning an initial six-year deal. It’s unclear how much Chelsea would ask for, but in terms for depth, they would still have Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo for cover at centre-back.

Sancho delighted

Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho says he is delighted to get game time after scoring against Southampton on Wednesday night. “I’m grateful whether I start or come on the pitch from the bench,” said Sancho.

“As long as I get some minutes and can play in front of the fans I’m delighted, but today topped it off with my goal. Obviously, the most important thing is the three points. We love the travelling fans, we love the fans home and away. We appreciate them and we try to give them a performance like this so they can go home happy. So we’re just delighted with the three points.”
