Ange Postecoglou cut a frustrated figure after our 1-0 loss against Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday evening.
In an open, frantic game at times, played in rainy, windy conditions, Dean Huijsen’s header from Marcus Tavernier’s corner on 17 minutes proved the difference.
Both teams had chances, both teams had goals disallowed for offside - Heung-Min Son’s effort ruled out for us in the second half - but we couldn’t carve out a clear-cut chance as we chased the game late on, while the home side created a host of them as we pushed forward. Once again, Fraser Forster was in fine form, while Archie Gray again showed his versatility on his first Premier League start for us, aged 18, starting left-back before switching centrally following an injury to Ben Davies - the last thing Ange needed with Cuti Romero and Micky van de Ven already sidelined.
> It’s not good enough, and something for me to ponder and do something about
Here's what Ange had to say to our Review Show…
_What are your thoughts on the game, Ange?_
Ange: “Disappointing, really disappointing. Not good enough. We’ve, again, allowed a game of football to get away from us, and a lot of it is self-inflicted. We started the game really well, but then conceded a really poor goal. When you come to place like Bournemouth, it’s going to be a tough game anyway, in these conditions, but you give them a goal and it allows them to dictate the game, and we didn’t cope well with that.”
_Was there anything in particular that disappointed you?_
Ange: “Everything. We don’t do ourselves any favours by allowing the opposition to play the game they want to. It’s not good enough, and something for me to ponder and do something about.”
_Something else to ponder - an injury to Ben Davies - any news on that?_
Ange: "It looks like a hamstring. Obviously, he's played a lot of football recently. We'll have to see how he is."
