West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui has just been absolutely destroyed by Paul Merson.
Julen Lopetegui is a man under real pressure at West Ham right now, and it was only on Thursday when Paul Merson suggested that the Hammers fans are forcing him out of the club.
Lopetegui is on the brink at the London Stadium right now, but he has amazingly been given one more game to save his job.
The Hammers head coach has overseen a painful regression at West Ham this season, and that’s not good enough, considering the amount of money he spent in the summer.
The football has been turgid and the results have been horrendous.

A return of 15 points after 14 games is simply not good enough.
It couldn’t be more obvious that a change is needed.
Lopetegui keeps making glaring errors – one of which caught the attention of Paul Merson it seems.

Paul Merson shocked by ‘unbelievable’ Julen Lopetegui decision
The Hammers were beaten 3-1 away at Leicester City on Tuesday night.
I cannot believe that Lopetegui is still in a job, but here we are.
Next up for the Hammers is a huge clash with Wolves on Monday night, and he obviously needs a win to remain at the London Stadium.
Merson pulled no punches when criticising the Hammers head coach for one decision he made against Leicester.

The well-renowned pundit wrote his regular column for Sportskeeda, and ripped into Lopetegui for not starting Lucas Paqueta at the King Power Stadium:
He said, “Speaking of unbelievable, I was baffled by how West Ham did not include Lucas Paqueta in their line-up to face Leicester. How can you do that? I don’t understand that decision – he keeps the ball well and makes things happen.“
I agree that Paqueta probably should have started against Leicester, but Merson has got this one wrong in so many ways.
Firstly, Paqueta has been really poor for us this season.
This is not the Paqueta from the 2022/23 campaign. He has actually been out of form for well over a year now.
Secondly, I’m not sure that Merson has watched the Brazilian much. ‘He keeps the ball well’…seriously Paul?
He is actually incredibly frivolous in possession of the football, and gives it away time and time again.
I have been calling for Lucas Paqueta to be dropped this season, although West Ham’s clash with Leicester was probably the wrong time to do it.
Paul Merson didn’t think so though, and he clearly attributed the blame for our 3-1 defeat to Lopetegui’s decision to drop the 27-year-old.
