Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is open to allowing defender Eric Garcia and forward Ansu Fati to leave the club during the January transfer window.
As per a recent report from SPORT, Flick is aware of the growing competition within the squad and foresees limited opportunities for certain players unless injuries create openings.
The manager has communicated to both Garcia and Ansu that consistent game time will be challenging to guarantee, given the current depth in the team.
While some of these conversations have been direct, Flick has made it clear that he would not stand in their way should they decide to seek a move elsewhere in January.
However, any potential transfer would still need to align with Barcelona’s financial and strategic requirements.
Tough for Garcia and Ansu to gain minutes
For Garcia, this season has been particularly tough in terms of playing time. With Ronald Araujo set to return to action soon and Andreas Christensen also on the path to recovery, competition for the centre-back positions is only expected to intensify.

This situation could further limit Garcia’s chances to feature regularly in the starting XI. As for Ansu, Flick had initially hoped to see the young forward regain his top form.
While the manager has not entirely given up on the player, Barcelona’s demanding environment requires immediate results. This has further complicated Ansu’s role in the team.
They do not want to leave
Despite these challenges, it appears neither Eric Garcia nor Ansu Fati is actively considering a move in January.
Both players are reportedly focused on completing the season with Barcelona and may only reevaluate their futures during the summer transfer window.
For now, they remain committed to fighting for their place in the squad under Flick’s leadership, but it is more than evident that their chances of featuring will be extremely limited.
