Newcastle United produced an excellent display on Wednesday night at St James’ Park as they forced Liverpool to share the spoils in the Premier League.
The Magpies were on the brink of defeat after Mohamed Salah’s double put the visitors 3-2 ahead, but Fabian Schar rescued a point by scoring a late equaliser.
There were many encouraging performances from Newcastle, especially Bruno Guimaraes who completed 100% of his crosses and long balls.
His influence stretched to both ends of the pitch, as he contributed in defence as well as attack.
Guimaraes is a huge asset for Eddie Howe’s side, but they fear losing the Brazilian amid interest from some big clubs.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are eyeing a move for the 27-year-old.
Manager Pep Guardiola reportedly loves the midfielder, and the Citizens were ready to make a move for him last summer. But they were put off by the £100 million release clause that expired at the end of June.
It was also suggested that Matheus Nunes could be used as part of a deal for Guimaraes.
City later ended up re-signing Ilkay Gundogan and a move didn’t materialise. But with Gundogan failing to make an impact and Rodri out for the season, the Premier League champions could renew their interest in the Brazil international.
Newcastle will not want to part with Guimaraes, who has been a key player for them since joining the club in 2022.
But it is said that because of PSR, they will have to sell one of their big names, especially if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
