Chelsea loanee Trevoh Chalobah has sent a message to Noni Madueke after his goal and assist against Southampton.
The winger scored Chelsea’s third goal in a 5-1 win on Wednesday night as the Blues climbed up to second place in the Premier League table. Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho were all also on the scoresheet.
Madueke has thrived since the arrival of Enzo Maresca in the summer, with his goal against Southampton his sixth of the season in all competitions. He has also provided two assists.
Despite his performance against the Saints, Maresca sent a clear demand to Madueke. Speaking in his post-match press conference, he said : “With Noni, I have personal relation in terms of he can do much more.
“He can do much more. The moment he starts to score or assist and is happy, he starts to drop a little bit and the reason why he was not playing is because I do not like the way he trained.
"He has to understand that he has to train every day good. He has to be ambitious. He scored one tonight, he has to go for the second one and the third one. He has to give more assists.
"But overall, he is doing great, he is doing fantastic. He is doing even better in terms of numbers. Noni has to understand he has to work more because he can be much, much, much better."
Following the game, Madueke shared a picture of him celebrating his goal on Instagram. That has now prompted a response from Chalobah, who has re-posted the picture to his own Instagram story along with the caption: “It shall come to pass.”
Chalobah is currently on loan with fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace. He played 81 minutes of the Eagles 1-0 away win against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night and is a regular starter in Oliver Glasner’s team.
