Christian Nørgaard claims he’s open to committing his future to Brentford whilst also keeping the door open for a transfer.
The defensive midfielder has been speaking to Viaplay in Denmark and his comments are relayed by Bold.dk.
The Denmark international’s contract lasts until the end of this season and Brentford have an option to extend it for another year.
At this point in time, the Bees haven’t activated this option, nor have they offered a new deal to the 30-year-old.
The defensive midfielder has been discussing his future with Thomas Frank’s side. He’s not willing to close any doors just yet and sent a message to the Premier League side to act fast, if they wish to retain him for long.
When asked whether Nørgaard will sign an extension at Brentford or leave them, he said: “I can see both scenarios unfolding. I don’t rule out either one or the other.
“But the longer it goes on, when nothing is in place with the club, then it is probably scenario number two, where I have to find another place and continue from the summer.
“It doesn’t take up everything right now, but at some point, you also have to decide on some concrete things.”
It’s now down to the Premier League side to decide whether or not to extend his contract, and if they do, whether to activate the one-year extension or offer him a new deal.
The Dane has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Brentford this season.
