FC Barcelona are continuously working to improve their team and the quality that they can field. At the top level, it never hurts just to be a little more secure than before. However, given their financial limitations, Barcelona is rather restricted in terms of the players that the club can pursue.
Still, the Catalan giants have no problem assessing the market and identifying the most feasible options for them to pursue. Over in the free agent market, Barcelona have often been able to find great deals that were both financially sustainable, as well as being good deals from a sporting perspective.
One such player who has recently emerged as a great option for Barcelona for the upcoming summer is Jonathan Tah. The 28-year-old Bundesliga star will become a free agent in the summer of 2025 if he does not end up renewing his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
Moreover, Barça have reportedly already made some key advances in the negotiations to ensure that he joins the Catalan giants for next season. Deco himself has been involved, and the agreement for a potential move already seems to be in an advanced stage.

Now according to Matteo Morretto, Hansi Flick himself is also playing a very important role in advancing this particular deal. The German coach has a lot of experience with the National team and the Bundesliga itself, so connections with Jonathan Tah are expected to play a crucial role.
Fortunately for Barcelona, it would seem like the club’s efforts from all fronts are starting to pay off. The player is someone who will undoubtedly bring a lot of quality and experience into a rather young team, but definitely, a squad that has a lot of quality already and untapped potential as well.
Already this season, Hansi Flick’s side has been quite consistent and looks to be one of European football’s top sides to beat. However, the addition of a player as acquainted with Hansi Flick as the €30m-rated Bayer Leverkusen center-back could be a great move, especially considering the affordable nature of the operation.
