AFC Bournemouth hosted Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, all thanks to the game being streamed by Amazon Prime. An 8.15 pm kick-off was the reward for the match going fans, a daft time for the home supporters, let alone the away supporters who didn’t even have a direct train back to London, with the last train of the evening leaving Dorset shortly after 10 pm, giving them half a chance of getting home but meaning they’d have to leave before full time to get it (and face multiple changes en route).
Overall it was a miserable evening for the visitors on and off the pitch, with the rain hammering down before kick-off and Tottenham having no answers to the home sides domination.
The Cherries opened the scoring through another set-piece, Dean Huijsen heading the ball home early in the first half.

AFC Bournemouth would go on to have two goals disallowed for offside and hit the post, whilst former Southampton goalkeeper Forster was called into action time and time again as AFC Bournemouth struck 21 attempts towards his goal with 8 of them on target.
Tottenham had nothing to offer in reply with the home side ending up worthy winners.
After the match, AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola told Amazon Prime as quoted by Sky Sports…
“We didn’t kill the game in the second half when we were having the clear chances and luckily for us we could finish the job but it was a moment during the game where you say if we don’t kill them they are going to punish us.
“I don’t trust too much in this momentum thing or confidence. I think the league is so tight, the details are so small from a win to a loss, so we have to reset. Now we have a difficult game, Ipswich away with just two days of recovery and we have to not think in the standings, the points – just compete in every game.
“The end of the season is too far away still to be setting a points target.”

That must be one of the most dominant but nerve-wracking 1 nil win.
In the back of my head, I was expecting a jammy Spurs goal for the last 10 minutes, especially after all the chances we spurned.
Fantastic win, and apart from the first 10, Dean was far and away POTM.
How many points? 😮💨 pic.twitter.com/jIz0aaNa5w

I arrived at the ground and got out of the car as the rain started to bucket it down.
In queue with others to be patted down as we all got wet.
But what another great evening for the Cherries and their fans as yet again at Dean Court this season our team have claimed their third big scalp.
First Arsenal, then Manchester City and tonight Spurs.
Our side had 21 shots and 8 on target while Spurs 12 shots and 4 on target.
Out of all this one goal decided the game and it was from 19-year-old Dean Huijsen making his third start in the Premier League, his well-placed header turned out to be the only goal that counted in the game. He was also MOM of the match.
Our side could have had more but for some erratic finishing.
But most of the crowd who were there tonight went home with a :grinning: On their face with AFCB in 9th place in the table with 21 points and one point more and one place higher than tonight’s opponents.
Looking up the table we are two points behind Brighton in 5th place.
What a great job our manager is continuing to do. – To join the conversation, click here.
