Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) is no longer the guaranteed starter at Paris Saint-Germain. Failing to provide assurances, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, the Italian is now in a rotation with Matvei Safonov with the latter starting in PSG’s last Champions League game, a defeat to Bayern Munich.
Donnarumma’s form may now threaten his future at the Parc des Princes, **RMC Sport** journalist **[Fabrice Hawkins](https://x.com/FabriceHawkins/status/1864769762468708605)** understands. Talks over a renewal to the goalkeeper’s current deal, which expires in 2026, had been ongoing, however, his performances have seen those talks come to a standstill.
Whilst **L’Équipe** understands that Donnarumma is frustrated with his current situation, PSG seemingly aren’t happy either. The hierarchy at _Les Parisiens_ believe that the Italy international’s recent performances are not in line with the salary being demanded in order to extend. As a result, the talks have been stopped, at least for now. It may require Donnarumma to raise his level if they are to restart.
