Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have found themselves in a war of words again.
Following their fierce La Liga rivalry when the current Manchester City boss was in charge of Barcelona and his Portuguese counterpart was Real Madrid’s manager, the duo have now been speaking about each other in the media.
After seeing his side lose 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, Guardiola was seen pointing out to the Reds fans that his side have won six Premier League trophies in his eight years at the club.
Having then seen this behaviour likened to Mourinho, the Catalan said the main difference is that he has won six league titles, whereas the current Fenerbahce boss has only won three.
This has now led to the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager sharing his response

Jose Mourinho answers back to Pep Guardiola after Premier League trophy observation
On the subject of what he heard Guardiola say about the number of Premier League trophies he’s won, Mourinho held nothing back with his response (via the Daily Mail).

He said: “Guardiola said something to me yesterday. He won six trophies and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly.
“If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 lawsuits.”
Reading between the lines, Mourinho appeared to have been referring to the fact that City are currently looking to clear their name after being accused by the Premier League of 115 financial breaches.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the former Spurs boss has mentioned this particular issue, as Mourinho discussed City’s alleged financial breaches back in October, saying this about his achievements when in charge of United.
He said: “I think we still have a chance to win that league, maybe they punish Manchester City with points, we win that league. They have to pay me the bonus and give me the medal.”
The alleged breaches at the Manchester club reportedly took place between 2009 and 2018 according to Sky Sports.
So even then, if Guardiola’s first two title wins were tainted by financial wrongdoing, he’d still have more league trophies than Mourinho.
Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if the City boss feels the need to address what his former Premier League and La Liga rival has now said.
Beyond that, the overall verdict of the Manchester club’s case against the alleged financial breaches – which they have denied since day one – will undoubtedly be something everyone in European football will be eager to see.
