Festive football is nearly upon us, with the January transfer window hot on its heels.
Premier League clubs are opening up their chequebooks and preparing to welcome new signings, but for Liverpool, their priorities are with players already in the building. Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract next summer, meaning that they're able to sign pre-contract agreements with overseas clubs come New Year's Day.
Over at Manchester United, new manager Ruben Amorim is on the lookout for winter additions after taking over last month. Viktor Gyokeres, who Amorim coached at Sporting Lisbon, is understood to be on United's wish-list, but Arsenal have also been linked with the Swede in recent months. Gyokeres' compatriot, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, is another target for the Gunners.

Good morning
Hello and welcome to Friday's live transfer blog.
We've got plenty to get stuck into, so let's crack on.
KEY EVENT
Arsenal appointment would increase Isak interest
Real Sociedad chief Roberto Olabe has been linked with becoming Arsenal's new technical director - and that could be bad news for Newcastle.
Olabe orchestrated Alexander Isak's move from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, paying just £8million.
Isak, 25, then joined Newcastle three years later for nearly nine times that amount.
Arsenal remain keen on the in-form striker and should Olabe be chosen to replace Edu at the Emirates, the Daily Mail report that the Gunners' interest would likely increase.

PSG hand Man Utd boost in Gyokeres pursuit
Manchester United have received a boost in their hopes of signing Viktor Gyokeres, as Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique doesn't want the Sporting Lisbon striker.
French outlet Foot Mercato reports that PSG are no longer in the race, with Luis Enrique preferring alternatives.
Arsenal and Chelsea could still rival United for the 26-year-old Gyokeres.

Salah 'congratulated' on signing new Liverpool contract
Former Egypt international Haytham Farouh has raised eyebrows by publicly congratulating Mo Salah on signing a new contract with Liverpool.
"Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want," beIN Sports pundit Farouh posted on X. "The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments."
Salah remains on course to become a free agent when his current deal expires on June 30, 2025.
Does Farouh know something we don't?
