Republic of Ireland assistant manager John O'Shea believes there will be lots of teams around Europe knocking on Liverpool's door for Caoimhin Kelleher this summer. The 26-year-old has been an excellent back-up to Alisson Becker, who has been sidelined in recent weeks with a hamstring injury.

Kelleher has played a significant part in the Reds' rise to the top of the Premier League in Alisson's absence. However, his long-term future at Anfield could be in doubt next summer ahead of Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival from Valencia.

Liverpool confirmed the transfer of Mamardashvili last summer, but as part of the deal, he would remain at the La Liga side this season. At the time, Kelleher said: "The club made the decision to get another goalkeeper. From the outside looking in, it looks like they have made a decision to go in another direction."

Despite being under contract until 2026, the goalkeeper has been the subject of speculation around his future due to his impressive displays for Arne Slot’s side. And O'Shea believes he wouldn't be short of options this summer.

"He's unflappable. He’s a great character and he’s everything you want from your goalkeeper," he told Premier Sports Ireland.

"It’s brilliant that he’s showing that consistency again and I think, for him, he’s going to have lots of teams all around Europe looking for him and I’m sure they’ll be knocking down the doors very soon. I know for a fact there will be lots more teams looking at him because I just think he’s a number one, top European goalkeeper."

When asked about where Kelleher may end up, O’Shea added: "It could be London, it could be Newcastle, you never know - there’s lots of teams [interested]."
