Marquinhos, 21, could be the first to depart if suitable offers arrive. Signed from São Paulo for £3 million in 2022, the Brazilian has made just six appearances for Arsenal and has spent much of his time on loan, with spells at Norwich City, Nantes, and Fluminense.

Meanwhile, Vieira, currently on loan at Porto, may also be on his way out after struggling to make an impact since joining Arsenal in a £32 million deal from Porto in 2022. The attacking midfielder has managed only three goals and nine assists in 42 appearances, with Arsenal legend Paul Merson previously questioning his suitability for the club.

Nuno Tavares, on a season-long loan at Lazio, is another likely summer departure. The 23-year-old left-back, signed from Benfica for £7 million in 2021, has played just 28 games for Arsenal and has had loan stints at Marseille and Nottingham Forest. Lazio reportedly have an obligation to buy Tavares if certain conditions are met, but even if the clause is not triggered, Arsenal plan to sell him next summer.

Arteta is keen to streamline his squad and reinvest in areas of need as Arsenal push to remain in contention with their title rivals. The club’s willingness to part ways with Marquinhos, Vieira, and Tavares signals a focus on clearing out underperforming players to make room for potential reinforcements.
