Key details ahead of the FA Cup third round have been confirmed.

The Football Association has confirmed the dates and kick-off times of Manchester City's and Manchester United's FA Cup third round ties.

The draw was made at Old Trafford on Monday and it pitted City against League Two outfit Salford City and United against Premier League counterparts Arsenal. City will welcome the Ammies to the Etihad Stadium for a 5.45pm kick-off on Saturday, January 11. The contest will be screened live on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

United, who defeated City in last season's final, winning 2-1 at Wembley, will travel to the Emirates Stadium a little under 24 hours later, locking horns with the Gunners at 3pm. That encounter will also be shown live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

This season's third round draw produced some eyecatching ties, including Liverpool against Accrington Stanley, Tamworth taking on Tottenham Hotspur and Morecambe being handed a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

For Salford, who have never appeared in the third round of the competition, the thrill of facing City at the Etihad Stadium will be a massive occasion for the club. Both clubs will pocket £85,000 as a result of being selected for a live broadcast game.

Arsenal and United have grand history in the FA Cup, winning the competition 27 times between them. They last met in the competition at the fourth round stage in January 2019 when United won 3-1 at the Emirates in what was their last away win against the Gunners.

United will be aiming to reach a third successive FA Cup final this season after participating in an all-Manchester affair in each of the last two seasons. Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo saw them lift the crown last term.
