Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri will demand an €8million per year salary to manage in the Premier League.

Out of work since May, the Italian left Juventus just two days after winning the Coppa Italia. Allegri masterminded a 1-0 win over Atalanta to become the first manager to win the domestic cup five times.

Previous achievements include winning six Serie A titles and reaching the Champions League final twice. Barcelona and Real Madrid thwarted Juve twice in the mid-2020s to deny Allegri the ultimate European crown.

The 57-year-old left the Turin club just days after exploding at referees, threatening journalists and having a reported bust-up with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli during the cup-winning celebrations.

He has since been lying low as he waits for the right opportunity to re-enter the managerial frame. Football Italia claim Allegri - who began learning English in 2019 - will demand a staggering €8million salary to coach a Premier League side.

For context, that is considerably more than what Newcastle United currently pay Eddie Howe, who penned a secret contract extension last year worth a reported £4million per year. Debate about the 47-year-old’s future have taken place among supporters in recent weeks.

United’s form has been patchy in 2024-25 and, while the overwhelming majority back the boss, there are a few grumbling on social media. NewcastleWorld also understands that Howe has the full backing of the St James’ Park hierarchy.

West Ham United are also named as a potential destination as they mull over Julen Lopetegui’s future. Beating Newcastle last week gave the Spaniard respite but back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Leicester City have reignited the argument.
