Arsenal and Chelsea have shown interest in Liam Delap of Ipswich Town. The striker’s former team Man City were said to distrub those plans in the recent reports. But now, City are said to provide a clear path to any interested clubs.
Liam Delap started his career at Man City but was unable to progress into their first team. He was part of City squad for 2 seasons but only played 6 matches in that two seasons. Later, the Englishman was sent on various loan spells.
This summer, Delap joined newly promoted Ipswich town on permanent tranfer. Ever since joining them, the 21 year old has levelled up. Delap has 6 goals and 1 assist in 14 Premier League games this season.
As a result, Delap has been linked with many big clubs. But, Man City have a buy-back clause which may prevent other interested parties to secure his signature. It was reported that City might bring him back for second spell at The Etihad.
It was also said that City might use this opportunity to do smart business. They may trigger the buy-back clause to sign Delap back before selling him for much higher price. But, now City are said to do the exact opposite which will come as a boost of interested parties.
Arsenal and Chelsea to get clear path in signing of Delap
Former Premier League keeper Paul Robinson has made some interesting claims about City’s policy. He thinks that City will not bring Delap back and hence the player will be free to join Arsenal of Chelsea.
“It’s just a deal that’s not going to happen, you’ve seen Cole Palmer go, that’s the thing with Man City’s younger players. They are not afraid to let the younger players go out, they realize that they’ve got to play football, they also realize about the FFP and PSR situation” – Robinson speaking to Football Insider.
Later, Robinson said that Ipswich will not part ways with Delap in January. But, he added that if Ipswich struggles this season and if Delap keeps scoring, he will surely move to any other club that is playing in Premier League.
