West Ham will have to negotiate compensation with Al-Ahli if they are to hire Matthias Jaissle, according to Give Me Sport.

The news outlet reported on 5 December that sources claimed he had a contract until 2026 and that there was confidence among the Hammers hierarchy that he could bring about a new culture at the club.

The former Red Bull Salzburg manager is understood to be one among a handful of names being considered at this point.

Matthias Jaissle may need to quickly win over the West Ham fans

The Hammers’ potential appointment of Jaissle, while ambitious, carries significant risks due to his relative obscurity in the top echelons of European football.

David Sullivan, Tim Steidten and Co. must be absolutely certain about his vision and capability to impose a winning culture, as the transition from managing at Red Bull Salzburg to the Premier League is substantial.

Jaissle’s success has been within the structured environment of the Red Bull system, which might not directly translate to the more unpredictable and demanding nature of English football.

Given the club’s recent history and the fans’ expectations for success, especially with a squad that includes European experience, the appointment of a manager with a proven track record in winning major trophies in Europe’s top leagues would provide immediate credibility and fan confidence.

Such a manager would not only bring tactical know-how but also the prestige and experience necessary to navigate the pressure of West Ham’s ambitions, ensuring a smoother integration and acceptance by the fanbase.
