‘He can do better’: Enzo Maresca has just sent a message to ‘improving’ Chelsea midfielder

Chelsea are doing extremely well at the moment and will head into the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend with confidence.

While Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday evening, Chelsea hammered Southampton 5-1 away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in their Premier League game on Wednesday evening.

One of the stars for Chelsea in the game against Southampton was Enzo Fernandez. The Argentina international midfielder provided the assist for the Blues’ first goal.

It was yet another impressive performance from Fernandez, who scored two goals and two assists against Arsenal, Leicester City and Aston Villa in recent weeks.

Once linked with an exit from Chelsea, Fernandez has now established himself as an important player for the London club. The midfielder has scored two goals and given three assists in nine starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Enzo Maresca’s message to Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez

While Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has been hugely impressed with Fernandez, he has made it clear to the 23-year-old midfielder that the youngster needs to continue to improve.

Football.London quotes Maresca as saying about Fernandez’s form: “He is improving a lot especially in terms of understanding the game and the position.

“This is what we need from the attacking players. He has many things he can do better but not only him, all of the players.”

Chelsea are Premier League title contenders

Chelsea are second in the Premier League table at the moment. The Blues are level on points with third-placed Arsenal and are seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

Maresca’s side have lost just twice in the Premier League this season and have won four of their last six league games.

Chelsea have steadily improved under Maresca, and given where they are in the league table right now, you have to consider them as challengers for the Premier League title.
