Manchester City’s numbers are depleted once again for this weekend’s Premier League trip to Selhurst Park.
Pep Guardiola gave an injury and fitness update on six Manchester City players on Friday, ahead of this weekend’s trip to Crystal Palace.
The Blues head to Selhurst Park on the back of a losing run of five matches in all competitions, although they did return to winning ways in midweek with a home win over Nottingham Forest.
Another three points in the capital could breath new life into what just a few days ago felt like a hopeless Premier League title chase. But another batch of injuries on Wednesday did somewhat sour the mood after the Forest win.
Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake picked up injuries, meaning it will likely be a patched up City defence against Palace. “Nathan is out and Manu we will see,” the Catalan confirmed ahead of the match.
Along with Ake, Phil Foden has been ruled out of the trip to Palace as the 24-year-old is suffering from from bronchitis.
“He’s not ready,” Guardiola confirmed, while also revealing that John Stones and Mateo Kovacic won’t be back from their long-term issues.
Elsewhere, it’s unclear whether Kevin De Bruyne will be selected from the off on Saturday. He started against Forest - his first since 18 September - but with the Belgian struggling with a pelvis injury, it’s not clear whether he’ll be named in the starting XI again just four days later.
“We don’t have many players so we’ll see. Important to come back. We’ll see how he reacts to this amount of games.”
