Everton could take bragging rights over arch-rivals Liverpool with a win in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The Blues will move to their new Bramley-Moore Stadium after this season and unless the sides are drawn against each other in a cup tie, it will be the final derby at the Old Lady.

The rivals have faced each other a total of 119 times at the Blues’ home over a period of 130 years, with both teams tied all-time on 41 victories each and 37 draws between the sides [Liverpool Echo].

Derby win would be huge for Everton season

A victory over the Reds would be a huge result for the Blues and could kickstart their season.

Sean Dyche relieved some pressure with a 4-0 victory over Wolves on Wednesday (4 December) but face a brutal run of fixtures against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in the coming weeks.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

A win at Goodison on Saturday (7 December) would not only give the Toffees the all-time Goodison bragging rights, it could also potentially put the club eight points above the relegation zone if other results went their way.

That would be a huge buffer with such tough matches coming up afterwards and would give the Blues momentum that they need to steer clear of another survival battle.

It would also help to derail the Reds’ title chances, which would give Toffees fans a major boost going into the Christmas period.

Sean Dyche could change his Everton legacy forever if he gets one over on Arne Slot’s side this weekend, he would go down as the man who ensured the Blues made history at their soon-to-be old stadium.

In other Everton news, Liverpool should be scared of Dwight McNeil after what he rediscovered during the Wolves win.
