Former Juventus general director Luciano Moggi recently shared his thoughts on the club’s current situation and potential transfer moves. In an interview with [**Adnkronos**](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/juventus-senti-moggi-cederei-douglas-luiz-invece-di-fagioli-koop-15801), Moggi addressed several key issues facing the Bianconeri.
Regarding Juventus’ transfer strategy, Moggi suggested that the team needs more than just minor adjustments, particularly in terms of leadership. He noted, “More than one tweak is needed, especially as this team seems to lack leaders. Bremer was one, but unfortunately, due to his serious injury, he’ll return next year.”
Considering the club’s financial situation, Moggi believes Juventus can make at most one significant acquisition unless they manage to sell a player. He offered his opinion on potential transfers, stating, “I would sell Douglas Luiz instead of Fagioli, who has proven in the past to be an excellent player.”
Moggi also commented on the current state of the team, acknowledging the challenges of implementing a new project that began in July. He emphasized that building a team takes time, saying, “A team isn’t made in 5 months or even a year, and injuries have made things enormously complicated. When the emergency ends, results will improve.”
Regarding Juventus’ prospects for the season, Moggi was realistic about their Scudetto chances. He stated, “Juventus isn’t equipped to win the Scudetto. The objective can be 4th place because three teams are stronger, namely Napoli, Atalanta, and Inter. It won’t be easy to achieve, but it’s within reach, hoping to recover Vlahovic and Gonzalez as soon as possible.”
Moggi didn’t shy away from pointing out what he perceives as errors made by the club. He criticized Giuntoli’s decision to buy Douglas Luiz, suggesting the player might have been better off staying in the Premier League. He also took issue with Thiago Motta’s tactical decisions, particularly regarding Koopmeiners’ positioning. “Motta is making a mistake with Koopmeiners’ position on the field, playing him too far forward and with his back to the goal where he doesn’t perform well,” Moggi opined.
Lastly, Moggi highlighted what he saw as a crucial error in the recent match against Lecce. He criticized Motta’s decision to introduce young players towards the end of the game, stating, “The coach made a big mistake in Lecce by bringing in the youngsters at the end, giving the team the impression that the match was over when it wasn’t, and Rebic equalized in the 93rd minute.”
