Arsenal are back in form and are very much in the race for the Premier League title this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side have won their last three Premier League matches and are now seven points behind leaders Liverpool.
Alan Shearer has backed Arsenal to challenge Liverpool all the way. A win against Fulham in the London derby this weekend is only going to enhance the Gunners’ chances of becoming the champions of England.
One of the reasons why Arsenal are doing so well at the moment is because of the form of Jurrien Timber.
The full-back has established himself as an important player for the Gunners. Timber scored for Arsenal against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old defender missed most of last season with a serious knee injury, but those problems are behind him now.
Timber has made 11 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Arsenal this season. He has scored one goal and given one assist in those games.
The Netherlands international has also given one assist in four UEFA Champions League matches for the North London club this season.
What Mikel Arteta has made of Jurrien Timber this season
Arsenal manager Arteta has been hugely impressed with Timber and has noted that he is very different to the full-backs he has in his squad.
When asked about Timber, Arteta said, as quoted in Football.London: “Really impressed. He is obviously coming from a long-term injury after his ACL.
“We knew the talent, the leadership, the skill that he has so he has been in great form, and he gives us something very different to any other full-back in the team. His impact has been tremendous.”
Jurrien Timber can only get better
Timber is a centre-back by trade, but at Arsenal this season, he has played as a left-back and as a right-back.
The way that the youngster has adapted at Arsenal shows how good and quick he is at taking in new information.
Timber is very good on the ball and does not shy away from a physical battle. He does his job efficiently and is able to defend as well as go forward.
The Arsenal defender is only 23 now. Timber can only get better, and under Arteta, he very likely will.
