Jurgen Klopp has always defended his players
Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool at the end of last season.
Jamie Carragher has said he does not wish Jurgen Klopp was still Liverpool manager because of Arne Slot's brilliant start at Anfield.
The Reds, who face neighbours Everton on Saturday, are seven points clear after 14 Premier League games.
And despite their momentum being checked slightly by the midweek draw at Newcastle on Wednesday night, Slot has ensured the transition period has been as smooth as possible.
And club legend Carragher, in a webchat for the Telegraph, provided an emphatic response when asked if he wishes Klopp was still in charge.

“The simple answer is no,” Carragher said. “ Arne Slot is doing all right, isn’t he? Obviously, every Liverpool fan was nervous going into this season but look at where the team is and the subtle changes that have been made. Now it looks like a great decision by all parties.
“Liverpool’s great start to this season has a lot to do with Klopp and the team he built and left behind – Slot recognises that – but no-one wants to go back now. Everyone is excited about what is to come.”
Carragher also said Trent Alexander-Arnold should retain the love of the Kop regardless of what happens in the summer.
The full back is out of contract in the summer along with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. Real Madrid have been regularly linked with the England star, who is a close friend of midfielder Jude Bellingham, and there appears little prospect of a new deal with his boyhood being agreed in the imminent future.
And Carragher said being a local lad means Alexander-Arnold will be remembered fondly - even if the Reds should really be getting a big fee.
Jamie Carragher has said he thinks Trent Alexander-Arnold should sign a new deal.
“Trent should be loved no matter what happens, but he will be respected more than loved if he leaves this summer,” he said. “Local players get treated differently to overseas stars. It is just how it is.
“Put it this way, I’m not sure you will get a banner on the Kop saying, ‘give Trent whatever dough he wants’ any time soon. With the local lads it always seems to be more like: ‘You’re playing for Liverpool so what more do you want?’
“Trent will get a lot of criticism if he leaves on a free because he is valued at around £90 million, but there will be more acceptance if Salah and Van Dijk go on a Bosman even though one cost £40 million and the other £75 million.
"Trent cost no transfer fee, so he would leave for the same price.”
