Arsenal are now a completely different proposition compared to when Mikel Arteta took over back at the end of 2019.
Back then, Arsenal were languishing in mid-table and the prospect of competing for the Premier League title seemed a million miles away.
Arteta embarked on a big rebuilding job at N5, displaying a level of ruthlessness that was unappreciated and sometimes even mocked at the time.
In hindsight, this was essential as it paved the way for Arsenal to get to where they are now, namely being regular Premier League title challengers.
Former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has now given his thoughts on how the Gunners are doing and how he sees their future.

Lukas Podolski says Arsenal are ‘building something great’
Podolski, speaking on talkSPORT, said he feels Arsenal are “building something great”, mentioning the “good structure” and “good atmosphere”.
He also said that, as a fan, he wants to see something to show for all of Arsenal’s good efforts by winning silverware this season, ideally the Premier League title.
“Let’s cross our fingers that this season will be good and we win the Premier League and maybe something happens in Europe,” Podolski said.
“I think they’re building something great, good structure, good atmosphere, but we as the fans from outside, we want something at the end [of the season].”
Arsenal endured some difficult times in the 2010s and, while they still won the occasional FA Cup, they were nowhere near the level required to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League.
Now, thanks to Arteta’s rebuilding job, the Gunners are a strong team that can challenge for the highest honours.
Indeed, the consensus among agents seems to be that Arsenal now have ‘incomparable’ pulling power.
Arteta does his homework on players to the point that prospective new signings’ heads will invariably be turned after they’ve spoken to the manager.
‘Arsenal’s pulling power is incomparable to where it was when Arteta took charge,’ the Evening Standard wrote back in September.
‘New signings have been seduced by the level of detail in Arteta’s pitch and stunned at the depths he has gone to understand their careers.
‘Among agents, there is an increasing belief that once Arteta gets players in the room, they do not want to play for anyone else.’
