Real Madrid have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Diogo Dalot as Ruben Amorim has no intentions of sanctioning his departure.
Real Madrid seek defensive reinforcement, they want to bring in a new right-back on a priority basis. The team in white are looking for someone who can help cope with Dani Carvajal’s absence and be the 32-year-old’s long-term replacement.
They have been closely monitoring quite a few right-sided full-backs of late and according to a report from GiveMeSport, Los Blancos are interested in acquiring the services of Diogo Dalot. While they have their eyes on the Portuguese international, the Spanish giants won’t find it easy to sign him from Manchester United as Ruben Amorim wants him around at all costs.
After a sensational rise at FC Porto, Dalot made the move to United in the summer of 2018. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and has successfully established himself as a key figure in their first team.
His consistent performances along with his ability to feature on either flank have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Real Madrid are one of the clubs that have been monitoring him for some time now. Their interest in him dates as far back as the start of the year.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team have made initial contacts to learn more about a potential transfer. While their priority will be to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer with his contract running out at the end of the season, they are also exploring a potential move for Dalot in case the Liverpool star ends up penning a new deal.
A deal for Dalot looks very difficult
While they consider Dalot an ideal long-term replacement for Carvajal, signing him won’t be that straightforward as his contract with the Red Devils runs until the summer of 2028. More importantly, the Portuguese full-back is not pushing for a move away from Old Trafford and their new boss Amorim considers him an integral part of their setup.
As far as United are concerned, the 25-year-old is not for sale but people close to Real believe they could lure him away with an offer close to £45 million. While United could look to cash in, the former Sporting CP boss is reluctant to lose the Porto graduate.
He has made it clear to Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada that he needs time to judge the current players in his squad. Dalot at this point is an important part of his plans. His ability to play as a left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw is quite highly rated by Amorim and he wants him around at all costs.
