Liverpool are being linked with a move for RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons ahead of the January transfer window. The Reds were credited with an interest in signing the Netherlands international in the summer following his impressive performances at Euro 2024.
Reports first emerged in the summer claiming that Liverpool may have an interest in signing Simons. However, Leipzig beat the Reds to the 21-year-old's signature, but it seems that a move to Merseyside in the future cannot be ruled out.
Simons joined Leipzig on loan for the season from Paris Saint-Germain for the second consecutive year. The playmaker has scored just three goals in 11 appearances this season but has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the end of October.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are listed as one of the "most probable destinations" for Simons when the time comes for him to leave PSG on a permanent deal. His current loan terms run until the end of the season, and Leipzig are reported to be determined to keep Simons on a permanent basis.
The report claims that Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich for Simons' signature. PSG are reported to value Simons at around €80million (£66.3million) and will not sell him to any club for any fee lower than figure.
It has even been suggested that Simons is most likely to move to either the Premier League or La Liga if he was to complete a permanent move away from PSG. Simons' current deal with the Ligue 1 club expires in 2027, and there have been no signs that he is looking to put pen to paper on fresh terms anytime soon.
