Liverpool transfer news: Magnificent Joao Pedro wanted now

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Joao Pedro. The Reds aren’t waiting around, either.

There’s a lot of talk around Liverpool’s strikers right now. The Reds are incredibly reliant on Mo Salah, who is either scoring or assisting all of their goals.

Well, not quite all - but over 70%. That’s not a sustainable percentage.

And that’s led to extra pressure on Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan is providing a lot on the pitch but not goals or assists - and that’s a problem when you’re a no.9.

In some ways, Arne Slot has already replaced Nunez with Luis Diaz. But he’s unlikely to be the long-term option there.

And in looking for that long-term option, Slot may not want to wait. Liverpool are eyeing up a star to come in ASAP.

Liverpool like Joao Pedro

Journalist Francois Plateau claims Liverpool are in the market for Brighton striker Joao Pedro. They could even move for him in January - if the Seagulls are open to that.

Liverpool have sounded out a move for Brighton’s João Pedro and could make a move in January if an opportunity arises.

Now, let’s first of all take this with a pinch of salt. Plateau doesn’t boast the best record when it comes to transfer rumours - but this one is exciting enough that we’ll get behind it.

Pedro is one of the best strikers in the Premier League right now and one of the most unique. We’ve compared him to Roberto Firmino and stand by that.

The way he brings players into the game, offers output himself, and works hard - it’s all reminiscent of his compatriot. A compatriot Liverpool very much miss, too.

Pedro would be, in our eyes, the exact kind of player Liverpool need to move up a level. He suits playing with direct wingers and having players run beyond him and he doesn’t need to be the main goalscorer.

Now, he’d cost an absolute fortune, no question there. But whatever Brighton want, Pedro is probably worth it.

He should be the first major signing of the new era. We believe that wholeheartedly.
