Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has confirmed the club’s plans for Ronald Araujo who is set to return from injury imminently.
Araujo hasn’t played at all yet this season but is close to a comeback and is set to feature before the close of the year.
Araujo won’t play against Real Betis on Saturday but is in contention to feature against Borussia Dortmund next week in the Champions League or Leganes in La Liga.
“He won’t be ready for tomorrow. Maybe he could play against Dortmund, but our objective is for him to be ready for Leganés,” he told reporters.
“It’s not easy to include him in every game because the team is doing well. I’m very happy, in today’s training session we focused on tomorrow.”
The return of Araujo will be a big boost and allow Flick to finally be able to offer his center-backs some rest when needed. Andreas Christensen is expected to boost his defensive options further in January.
