All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they prepare to face Tottenham.

Enzo Maresca’s men now turn their attention to a Tottenham side that has struggled to find consistency so far this season. Although, they have proven themselves capable against some very good teams, and the derby nature of the fixture makes it that much more difficult to predict. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have no plans to keep midfielder

Chelsea don’t appear to have any future plans involving Carney Chukwuemeka, who joined the club for around £20million. Maresca made it clear that the midfielder was made available in the summer window but a deal could not be reached.

Journalist Graeme Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle: “We know he’s not got a future there. That could be a permanent deal, but given how much they paid for him, his wages, a loan with a view is always most likely. There’s a bit of interest. I expect Chukwuemeka to get a move in January.” It will be interesting to see whether Chukwuemeka can find a new permanent home in the summer, with a loan deal perhaps more likely.

Merson claim

Paul Merson believes Chelsea may have the strongest squad in the Premier League, but he does not see them as title contenders just yet despite an impressive start to the season.

Merson told Sportskeeda: “[Chelsea] have a good squad, probably the strongest in the Premier League. But they played Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool this season and took just one point. That is why they are not contenders yet.” Chelsea are currently seven points behind leaders Liverpool, making up two during the week.
