Facing Spurs for the 3rd day of the tournament that brings together Premier League reserves, the young Monegasque talents dominated in England (0-4).
A resounding success, and first place to boot! Winners against the Portuguese team Benfica in the Youth League last week (1-0), the players from the AS Monaco Elite Group had a date with their counterparts from Tottenham this Friday. Played in the context of the 3rd matchday of the PLIC, Djimi Traoré’s men won by a large margin (0-4), to go to the top of the standings. ✍️
Michal makes good on a period of domination
However, the match took a while to settle down, played within the Hotspur Way, the training center of the London club’s Academy teams. In a first half that was nevertheless very lively, and with intense Monaco pressure, it was finally Lucas Michal who opened the scoring after half an hour of play with a high recovery (0-1, 31st), giving his side a lead that would soon be built on.
Etonde seizes the moment and Lienard is decisive
Barely two minutes later, a free kick from Jules Béry was spilled by the English goalkeeper to the feet of Romaric Etonde (0-2, 33′). AS Monaco thus doubled the lead before the break, an advantage that Yann Lienard kept by saving brilliantly on his line. The second half was calmer, with two substitutions carried out quickly. But after the hour mark, things heated up again and the Elite Group ended up widening their lead.

A double for Joan ‘clutch’ Tincres!
The first was thanks to Joan Tincres, who finished with a subtle chip over the Spurs goalkeeper (0-3, 67′)! He then had a second, following a good cross (0-4, 76′), his 15th goal already this season, in all competitions combined. The score could even have been a little higher, with a bit more efficiency for Lucas Michal.
Top spot as a reward
The young Rouge et Blanc talents therefore obtained a deserved and controlled victory in London. It was a great performance in terms of spirit and determination, which allowed Djimi Traoré’s men to temporarily take top spot in the PLIC, with seven points and nine goals scored from their three matches. It was a great evening in London, before another on the horizon against Arsenal in the UEFA Youth League. Daghe les jeunes! 🇲🇨
