Quick turnaround for Cherries as trip to Ipswich awaits: Team news and preview

Bournemouth head to Suffolk on the back of consecutive league wins, over Wolves and Tottenham, and will look to make it three in a row against the struggling Town.

But with Sunday’s hosts getting two extra days rest since their Tuesday night defeat, can they secure their first home win against the travelling [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/)?

The Daily Echo previews Sunday’s game at Portman Road.

**Team News**

Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth will be without Marcos Senesi who picked up an injury last weekend at Wolves, with the Argentine missing Thursday’s game against Spurs.

He joins Julian Araujo, Alex Scott and Luis Sinisterra as long-term absentees for Bournemouth.

The Basque boss is likely to rotate some positions in his starting 11 with such a short turnaround, which could see players rested.

Kieran McKenna will be without Chiedozie Ogbene, George Hirst, Janoi Donacien and Axel Tuanzebe.

**Head-to-Head**

Across 38 games between the two sides, Sunday’s hosts have had marginally the better record, with 14 wins to the Cherries 11, and 13 draws.

The hosts are unbeaten in seven against Bournemouth, with three wins and four draws, dating back to February 1992 – although the four draws are the only four meetings between the sides this century.

This is the sides’ first meeting in the Premier League, with the last four games all coming in the Championship in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.

Of those games, all four were draws – with two 1-1s and two 2-2s split between Portman Road and Dean Court.

The last meeting between the two sides was in April 2015 in Suffolk, as the Cherries rescued a late 1-1 draw.

Kenwyne Jones netted with eight minutes to play, after Freddie Sears opened the scoring for the hosts after six minutes – with Cherries stalwart Adam Smith coming off the bench in that game.

**Last Time Out**

The Cherries come into the game with some good form, with back-to-back wins over Wolves and Spurs.

On Thursday night, they beat the latter 1-0 thanks to a Dean Huijsen header from a corner and a fantastic defensive display under the lights at the Vitality Stadium.

The hosts come into the game off the back of a disappointing home defeat to Crystal Palace, who triumphed through a second half Jean-Philippe Mateta goal that saw the Eagles to their first away win of the season.

Town are yet to win at Portman Road this season, but with Bournemouth potentially coming into the game with tired legs after their Thursday night game, they will hope to break their duck.

AFC Bournemouth’s trip to Portman Road kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, December 8.
