After the drama of the midweek draw with Liverpool, Newcastle United face perhaps just as big a test today when they take on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

While the Bees may not possess stars of the calibre of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Thomas Frank's side are formidable on home soil. No one has picked up more points on their own turf than Brentford this season, with six wins and a draw from their seven games at home this term.

That one blemish came in a 1-1 draw with West Ham - although Eddie Howe will be aware that they have failed to keep a clean sheet at home despite the excellent run of form. In fact, United were they last team to win there, with their 4-2 victory on the final day of last season a reason for positivity. Here's all you need to know ahead of today's game.

When is Brentford vs Newcastle United?

The game takes place today, Saturday, November 7, 2024, getting under way at 3pm. It is one of five Premier League games today.

How can I watch Brentford vs Newastle United highlights?

Early Newcastle United team news

The Magpies are still without the injured Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles, but picked up no further injuries in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool. Howe must decide whether he needs to rotate his starting XI, however, with the likes of Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier pushing for a start.

What have the managers said?

Eddie Howe

"I think whenever you go away from home, the intention that you set in the game is key. The early exchanges give you a lot of clues to how the game's going to go. We need to start well, as you say, Brentford score a lot of early goals. We're well aware of that. They're still a very good set piece team as well. So we're going to have to be on that."

Thomas Frank

"They were brilliant at home to Arsenal, they were brilliant last night at home to Liverpool, they were very good away to Chelsea and were unlucky not to get something out of that game. At home to West Ham, they absolutely dominated them. It's an Eddie Howe team that is up to its best so this will be the biggest test that we have faced at home this season."
