FC Barcelona are preparing to take on Real Betis in what will be their latest challenge in La Liga. The Catalan giants, after having demolished RCD Mallorca, will be looking to continue their winning run. For Hansi Flick and his Barcelona team, anything except for a victory will not be satisfactory.
However, to ensure victory, the Catalan giants will need to be at their very best. Real Betis is not a team to be taken lightly, irrespective of their form or current state of affairs. Always a threat, especially at the Benito Villamarin, Hansi Flick will need to rely on his best players to be able to get a positive result away from home.
Here is how Barcelona could line up for the contest.
Expected Barcelona Line-up:
Goalkeeper: Iñaki Peña
So far, Iñaki Peña has been reliable and solid for Hansi Flick’s team this season. Tasked with stepping up in place of Marc-André ter Stegen, he has successfully risen to the challenge thus far.
Right-back: Jules Koundé
Jules Koundé appears to be a much more complete player this season. As long as he remains fit and available, he should retain his place in the team, even though he has had some shaky performances recently.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsí
The young 17-year-old defender, despite his age, remains one of the most intelligent players on the pitch for Barcelona. His reading of the game, defensive contributions, and creative actions all end up being great assets for his teammates to take advantage of.
Centre-back: Iñigo Martínez
As Ronald Araújo closes in on his return, the future of the center-back positions looks unclear. However, as far as merit goes, Iñigo Martínez has more than earned his place as a starter and a great performance against Real Betis could only do him even further good.
Left-back: Alejandro Balde
Slowly gaining momentum, the electric fullback could once again be a valuable asset for Flick’s team. His quick recovery speed allows for good defensive cover, but it simultaneously allows him to cover a lot more distance to help out in attack as well.
CDM: Marc Casadó
Despite his age and size, Marc Casadó remains a giant in the midfield for Barcelona when it comes to his impact. Always winning possession in key areas and distributing the ball well, the Spaniard is a must-have inclusion for Flick in any game.
CDM: Gavi
Given how much Pedri has already played this season, Hansi Flick could opt to rest the €80m-rated Spaniard. In his stead, Gavi could come in and get another start under his belt against Real Betis.
RAM: Lamine Yamal
Some sensational plays from Lamine Yamal were the reason that Barcelona were able to make a much-needed resurgence in their previous outing, and it would make no sense to bench the star youngster for this encounter.
CAM: Dani Olmo
While he did have his moments in the previous game against RCD Mallorca, Dani Olmo will be hoping for a much more impactful performance this time around if he does end up starting. Given his influence so far, however, it may be wise to give him the start after all.
