As is the case with most high-profile managers, Hansi Flick also has a distinct style of working and management, which has been discussed extensively in the media since his arrival at FC Barcelona.
One aspect of his management style is setting short-term objectives, on a monthly basis, which helps him assess the state of his team and the individual players.
Before November, he had been meeting, and even exceeding, these set objectives, but the last month did not really go exactly according to his plans as his team suffered two defeats and also dropped points in a draw.
The team is now tranquil with their win over Mallorca, which, combined with Real Madrid’s loss to Athletic Club, provides the Blaugranes with a bigger cushion at the top of the table.
According to SPORT, for now, Flick’s main objective is to retain this position at the top of the table till the end of the year, and he believes it is essential for his team to remain at the top of the table before the end of the first round of matches.
Barcelona have three matches to play before the end of the year, including tonight’s clash against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin. Following this game, there will be two La Liga matches against Leganes and Atletico Madrid, both of which are to be played at Montjuïc Stadium.
Hansi Flick believes that if his team is able to secure all nine points from these three games, their chances of becoming the champions of Spain will grow significantly.
This is especially the case as Barcelona will have already played 11 of their 18 games away from home tonight, and they will play more games at home, where they have suffered only one defeat up to now, in the second half of the season.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are four and five points behind the Catalans respectively, but both have a game in hand. But Flick is obsessed with going into the next year ahead of these sides, even though it will not guarantee a win in La Liga.
