FC Barcelona have one of the most talented squads in the world and all of them are pretty young too. Despite having experienced veterans like Robert Lewandowski and Inigo Martinez in the mix, most of the crop sports a young feeling to it.
Despite already having a good squad at their disposal, Hansi Flick understands the need to have a well-rounded one, with replacements in every position. One route Barcelona can go down under is signing free agents.
For quite some time now, the club has been linked with a transferfor Jonathan David as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Now, as per Fichajes, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are set to rival the Catalan club for his signature.
David has been one of the most consistent strikers in Ligue 1 in recent seasons. The Canadian attacker has been a regular in-form goalscorer for LOSC Lille and his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has continued his fine form so far this season. In 23 games across all competitions, he has scored 17 goals and provided three assists. It comes as no surprise that top clubs across Europe are interested in him.
David is also experienced on the international stage. Having represented Canada 59 times at the senior level, he has netted 31 goals. Thus, even if Barcelona will be signing a 24-year-old, he is someone who has a lot of experience.
Whether Jonathan David has what it takes to replace a player of Robert Lewandowski’s caliber in the long run depends to be seen. It might not be easy considering the kind of career the Polish striker has had and let’s wait and see how it goes.
