Robert Lewandowski deserves plaudits for his performances this season. Even at the age of 36, the forward has continued to perform at the highest level, notably racking up 22 goals in all competitions so far this term.
This has even convinced Barcelona to inform the player of their desire to extend his contract. However, even in the best-case scenario, Lewandowski’s contract will expire in 2026, and given his age, Barcelona must immediately find a long-term replacement.
A recent report from Diario AS has outlined that Barcelona sporting director Deco is indeed scouring the market for a ‘New Lewandowski’ and has already identified four options.
Jonathan David
One player who has caught the eye of Deco is Canadian striker Jonathan David. Currently plying his trade at Lille, the Canadian has been in exceptional form this season, netting 13 goals and providing 2 assists in just 19 games.
His impressive performances in the Champions League against Real Madrid and Juventus have further solidified his reputation as a rising star.
His contract at Lille is set to expire at the end of the season, making him an even more appealing target for Barça, although the club are yet to initiate any talks.
Viktor Gyokeres

The Swedish international has been a revelation at Sporting, scoring a remarkable 58 goals in 56 games this year.
However, acquiring his services would require a significant investment of up to €80 million, with a substantial release clause of €100 million.
Erling Haaland
Barcelona’s distant dream, though, is to sign none other than Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
While Haaland is undoubtedly one of the most talented strikers in the world, a move to Barcelona seems unlikely at this stage.
His long-term contract with Manchester City, coupled with a hefty “exit agreement” estimated at €180 million, puts him out of reach for the Catalan club.
However, the club will be hopeful that Man City’s ongoing crisis could speed up the process of Haaland’s potential exit from the Etihad.
