Marcus Rashford will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on Saturday evening. Ruben Amorim has greeted positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Victor Lindelof (groin) and Luke Shaw (calf) are the only players on the sidelines. Jonny Evans should be in contention, although he faces a late fitness test to determine his availability against Nottingham Forest.
However, Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo are back after serving their suspensions earlier this week against Arsenal. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided a fitness update on Evans and Lindelof while speaking about the suspended duo from the last game.
The Manchester United manager said, “Jonny’s still not training. Victor returned to training but is not available for tomorrow. Maybe the next game, he will be available. Licha and Kobbie are returning for the team so we are prepared for the game.”
With Evans unlikely to start, Amorim will pick between Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, and Noussair Mazraoui for the third centre-back spot. Yoro should make his first start for the home side, with Mazraoui getting some rest after his recent excursions. The French wonderkid will join Matthijs de Ligt and the returning Lisandro Martinez in the central defensive unit.
Andre Onana is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-3 formation in front of him against Nottingham Forest. Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot should be the two wing-backs, with the latter starting on the left flank. Tyrell Malacia will make way for Dalot as he continues to build his fitness.
The rotations should continue in the offensive trifecta, with Bruno Fernandes the only player to retain his spot in the final third. Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee should return to form a fluid attacking trio, with Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund dropping to the bench against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Yoro, de Ligt, Martinez; Diallo, Casemiro, Mainoo, Dalot; Bruno Fernandes, Zirkzee; Rashford
