Tottenham have to scramble in recent weeks in attempt to come up with a shortlist of right-backs in the event Pedro Porro leaves the club.
And it looks like they have added another name to that list.
Arsenal and Tottenham to battle Liverpool for Lutsharel Geertruida, Real Madrid also lurking
As reported by Caught Offside, Tottenham and Arsenal could mount bids to battle Liverpool for RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida.
The 24-year-old Dutchman made his name in the Eredivisie, playing under Arne Slot at Feyenoord. He was linked with a Liverpool move in the summer before he sealed a move to the Bundesliga side instead, but his performances have already put his suitors on high alert.
Real Madrid, considering the first-choice right-backs of both Tottenham and Liverpool as long-term answers for their out-for-the-season veteran Dani Carvajal, are also expected to enter the mix for the versatile defender that has made 20 appearances for Die Roten Bullen this season across all competitions, occupying multiple positions.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €32 million, Geertruida currently has at Leipzig a €4.72m-per-year contract running until June 2029.

An unlikely prospect
Unless Arsenal wish to offload Ben White or Jurriën Timber, it’s unlikely they’ll make a move for Geertruida, and while Tottenham do need a right-back regardless of what happens with Pedro Porro, challenging Liverpool would be tricky, given the Reds can be considered to be in a slightly more desperate situation than the Lilywhites.
More Tottenham News:
Real Madrid, owing to their reputation and deep pockets, can be expected to prise the Dutchman away from Leipzig under Liverpool’s noses, especially given he could fill multiple holes for them at the back, but unless they drop their first-choice targets to go all in on him, it’s unlikely Geertruida goes anywhere this winter unless Liverpool come calling with an irrefutable offer. A former Arne Slot favourite, surely the Reds will have an advantage in the transfer race.
