'Quietly brilliant' 27-year-old Chelsea star wants to join West Ham in January - report

West Ham United could move to sign a player from Chelsea in the January transfer window it seems.

The upcoming January transfer window will undoubtedly be an important one for West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui and Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

Lopetegui is a dead man walking right now, and the board are said to be lining up potential replacements for him including the likes of Christophe Gaultier.

Lopetegui has performed terribly since taking over at the London Stadium, there are no two ways about it.

He has failed to instil a clear identity on the pitch, and that is what has disappointed me most.

The results have been embarrassingly bad as well in fairness.

How he is still in a job at the London Stadium is mind-boggling really isn’t it.

However, it is what it is. If he is still in charge come January, he could be set to make a big splash in the transfer market.

Chelsea star wants to join West Ham in January transfer window

The Hammers are expected to be busy in the January window, regardless of who is our manager by then.

We need more competition for places, especially in the centre-back department.

And the door is said to be opening for us to make a big signing this winter.

Foot Mercato claim that West Ham are keen to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a loan deal in January.

That will only be possible if we make one of the loan deals for Jean-Clair Todibo or Carlos Soler permanent, as Premier League clubs are only allowed two loans at one time.

And the French media outlet claim that the 27-year-old actually wants to join the Hammers, in the hunt for more regular first-team football.

Funnily enough, West Ham tried to sign the towering central defender in the summer before he joined Chelsea.

And now we’re said to be back in for him.

This would be a strange old move if you ask me, and not because he isn’t a top centre-back.

The former Fulham man would definitely be a big upgrade on what we currently have at the London Stadium.

However, the Hammers fans will remember how he trolled us before our clash with Chelsea earlier this season.

Ahead of the game, Adarabioyo posted a message on X directed at the West Ham fans.

The Chelsea man said, ‘Bubbles about to burst’, before the big London derby.

He was right in all fairness to him, as Chelsea ran out as convincing winners.

Adarabioyo has been described as a ‘quietly brilliant’ defender by Give Me Sport, and they’re not wrong at all.

The 6ft 5in centre-back is aerially dominant, he possesses impressive pace and is incredibly strong in the challenge.

I would love Tosin Adarabioyo at West Ham but as mentioned earlier, we need to either get rid of a loan player or make their deal permanent, if the Chelsea man is to join us this winter.
